The Tale of the Tear

The Tale of the Tear

Listen to the fable of this happening rare,

My children I’ll tell you the tale of The Tear.

Petty bickering Gods, in their anger they threw

Their wrath down on our world and scorched it anew

Apenca she wailed to see such a sight,

Her new fledgling mortals did suffer that night.

The cultures they’d built, cities of renown

Came rumbling, tumbling, crumbling down.

Stasa was thrilled, what a great deadly day,

Poor Jerroh was busy, ferrying lost souls away.

Blythe took advantage, and spread his disease,

Atha rooted herself, Beldon tended his seas.

Callis burned so the mortals could try to stay warm

Alwyn scoffed and indifferently brewed up a storm.

The cultures they’d built, cities of renown

Came rumbling, tumbling, crumbling down.

Balaxa killed crops, covering farms in her frost,

Marius helped where he could to lessen the cost.

Hemulus made war and whole nations were slain,

Iccula bathed in their screams and their blood and their pain

Arkady was displeased with the destruction they’d wrought

The beauty in this world would soon be forgot.

The cultures they’d built, cities of renown

Came rumbling, tumbling, crumbling down.

Bard simply slumbered, put already to bed,

Fiona did nothing, swirling thoughts in her head.

Alejandro tried to join mortals in a lover’s embrace

But the Tear scattered soul-mates all over the place.

Anajaream spread chaos, and as he did so

Brack hunted with prejudice, laying criminals low.

The cultures they’d built, cities of renown

Came rumbling, tumbling, crumbling down.

Societies destroyed, art and history just vanished.

D’shunn underground, only recently Banished.

Astrid stole riches from those far and near,

Kazzok’s great rage cowed all into fear.

Clovis helped where he could and vanquished many infernal,

Grandfather Elieff stood and watched, his vigil eternal.

The cultures they’d built, cities of renown

Came rumbling, tumbling, crumbling down,

Sasha’s gift of magic barely granted a spark,

Kell was visibly absent but lurked in the dark.

Historians speak of the time of the Tear,

But none know for sure, no living mortal was there.

We had every convenience, in a flash it was gone,

Our stubborn will to survive forcing us to go on.

The cultures they’d built, cities of renown

Came rumbling, tumbling, crumbling down.

We’ll always rebuild, our people recover,

The tenacity of mortals that lets us discover;

The whole world which binds us and joins us forever

United we stand, we’ll get through this together.

So thank you, for listening, no intention to scare

Just to educate you about the cataclysmic Tear.
